The 63rd National Award winners have been announced just now and Maestro Ilayaraja has won the award for the Best Background score for his original and native style. Incidentally, Ilayaraja was the first winner of this award in this category when it was introduced few years ago.
This will be his fifth National Award after Sindhu Bhairavi, Rudraveena, Saagara Sangamam and Pazhassi Raja. This award is even more special as Thaarai Thappattai marks Ilayarajas 1000th music album.:happy: :happy: :happy:
